Up in the rugged terrain stands Assam's only hill station
Haflong, where one can see the rainbow down below. It is the District Head Quarter of North Cachar Hills District. The hills emerge from the heart of Assam like a chorus of silent hymns and rise up to the sky like the crescendo of music. The sportive clouds play around the cliffs like gleeful children. The limitless green rolls away to distant horizon in a beautiful rhythm. Hilly Assam is a land of sensuousness. The mountains float in the distant sky. The clouds descend and snugly lie below one's feet. Haflong is set at an altitude of 1000-1200 metres above the sea level, the temperature of the place never rising above 25" celcius or dipping never below 40 celclus.
The North Cachar Hills have the potentiality of providing adventure tourism events like trekking, hang gliding. The green valley and the hilly treks are most suitable for these events, which are exciting games in modern tourism. There are 400 species of orchids in North Cachar Hills and other adjoining hill terrains.
The beauty of the Haflong Lake, the orange orchards of Jatinga, the Hill Railway are all sights to experience in a life time.
