 Rajgir Dance

Celebreted from October 24 to October 26.The colourful festival of dance and music, Rajgir Dance Festival is held at Rajgir, the ancient capital of the Magadha kings. During the festival the instrumental music, devotional songs, opera, folk dance, ballet or the many schools of classical dance and music, geniuses in their own realms of accomplishments, create an almost ethereal atmosphere to electrify true devotees. The sanctity of Rajgir is aptly acclaimed by the performance of such respected artistes like Anand Shankar,Nalini-Kamalini, Hema Malini, Amita Dutta, Mukund Nayak who, in their humility, feel blessed by this land of the holy.

Sonepur Fare

Sonepur Fair is of great antiquity and in olden times it attracted traders from as far as Central Asia.The site of the present fair was originally at Hajipur, and only the pujas used to be offered atin the temple at Sonepur. During the reign of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, the fair was shifted to Sonepur.The fair continues for about fourteen days but the few days before, during and after the Kartik.

Teej

Teej is essentially a women’s festival.It is believed that on this day goddess Parvati was united with Lord Shiva after a penance of a hundred years.The invocation of Parvati’s blessings on this day results in continued marital bliss.Henna is decorated on the palms of hands of women.It is a popular belief that the intensity of a man’s love for his wife can be gauged from the color of henna on the wife’s palm.Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati are worshipped by married women who keep a 24-hour fast for the long life of their husband.
