The geographic diversity and strategic location has made Gujarat home to an incredible diversity of people. People have developed lifestyles to suit their surroundings. For a city that owes its prosperity to three textiles- cotton, silk and gold, Ahmedabad has one of the finest textile museums in the world. Housed in one of Gujarat's famous carved wooden havelis, the museum displays a magnificent collection of rare textiles that date back to the 17th century. There is also an excellent reference library on textiles.

Vishalla is a restaurant with traditional Gujarati food in village surroundings. It has Vichar Utensil Museum worth visiting. The museum houses a unique collection of utensils.

The Museum has a unique collection of folk culture from Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch with displays of crafts and costumes from these areas.

The musuem is housed in the old Raj Bhavan, which was also a palace. The museum situated in Shahibaug exhibits Sardar's life and works.

Lakhota Fort is Jamnagar's museum and its terraces display a fine collection of sculptures that span the period from the 9th to 18th century. The Kotha Bastion is Jamnagar's arsenal. One of the most interesting sights is the old well, from which water can be drawn by blowing into a hole on the floor.

The oldest museum in Gujarat, it was established in 1877 originally known as the Fergusson Museum, after its founder, Sir James Fergusson, a governor of Mumbai under the British Raj. The exhibits on display are gold and silver ornaments, Kshatrapa inscriptions, textiles, weapons, archaeological finds, stuffed animals and musical instruments. Besides these, it is equipped with a picture gallery and sections for anthropology and shipping.

This museum was named after Mr.Winchester the Assistant Collector of that area at the time, who took a keen interest in increasing the prosperity of Surat.

Founded by the Gaekwads in 1894 A.D., the museum has an impressive collection on Art and Archaeology, Natural History, Geology and Ethnology. The adjoining art gallery has a great collection of old European Masters: Veronese, Giordano, Zurbaran, some Flemish and Dutch School paintings, Turner and Constable, a collection of Mughal miniatures and valuable palm-leaf manuscripts of Buddhist and Jain origin.

This is the royal collection of art treasures of old masters like Raphael, Titian and Murillo as well as modern Western and Indian paintings, Greco-Roman exhibits, Chinese and Japanese art and a large collection of contemporary Indian art.
