The picturesque resort located amidst scented forests of chir pine and gigantic deodars. The town of Chail was once summer capital of Maharaja (King) of Patiala (Punjab) 86 km from Kalka via Kandaghat and 45 km from Shimla via Kufri at the height of 2150 meters. The Palace was built in 19th century by the King of Patiala and the pretty cottages of the complex that once accommodated the ADCs and guests of Royal party are now part of fascinating holiday resort. King Bhupinder Singh vowed never to enter Shimla and determine to develop Chail into a resort par excellence exceeding Shimla in every way. Chail is built on three hills the palace is on Rajgarh hill the residency snow view once occupied by British resident is on Pandhewa hill and on the third hill Sadh Tiba where chail is situated. Overlooking Satluj Valley, Shimla and Kasauli are also visible at night. Chail has also the highest cricket ground in the world. Well kept and well maintained the ground is surrounded by huge trees of deodar and pine. On the other side of massive Himalayan ranges spectacular in the sun and snow covered every thing under it. Away from hustle and bustle Chail is quit peaceful and comfortable place to visit. Once the palace of King of Patiala which is now being run as a Luxury hotel which is run by Himachal Tourism. Several trek routes lead out of Chail up to the Chur Dhar peak and to Shimla. During winters, skiing is possible at Narkanda. The Giri river at Gaura, 29 km away, is ideal for fishing.

Cricket Ground 
Surrounded by gigantic deodar and well maintained Chail Cricket ground is the highest cricket ground in the world. Built in 1893, this cricket pitch at the height of 2144 meters also used as polo ground. 

Chail Wildlife Sanctuary Ghoral, kakkar, sambhar, red jungle fowl, and khalij, cheer pheasants are some of the inhabitants of the Chail wildlife sanctuary. 

Sadhupul 14 km from Kandaghat a beautiful tiny village of Sadhupul, and the bridge over the Ashwani stream, a popular picnic - spot.

By Air: Jubbar Hatti is the nearest airport is about 80 km from Chail 
By Road:Chail is 29 km from Kandaghat,61 km from Shimla via Kandaghat and 43 km via Kufri. 
By Train: Nearest rail head is Kandaghat 29 km from Chail on narrow gauge line.
