Kovalam

KovalamIt is one of India's internationally renowned beaches. Popular since 1930, Kovalam consists of three successive crescent shaped beaches. Kovalam beach is a strip of golden sand lying side by side between the serene blue waters of the Arabian Sea and the rich greenery of coconut palms.

With a high rock promontory and a calm bay of blue waters, this beach paradise creates a unique aquarelle on moonlit nights. At your choice from any of the centres nearby you can pamper yourself with a herbal, body-toning massage. 

You can enjoy the rejuvenating Ayurvedic therapy in the privacy of your room. A wide range of accommodation is dished out along the shores of Kovalam.

Papanasam Beach (Varkala)
A narrow winding road leads away from the town, flanked by thousands of palm trees and fertile paddy fields. In fact, this is a holy beach, known as ‘Papanashini’ meaning, that which destroys sins. High cliffs border the excellent beach. Mineral water springs gushing out from these cliffs are well known for their medicinal property. 

There is a nature cure center adjacent to the beach. Worship at the ancient Janardhana Swamy (Vishnu) temple and pay homage to Kerala’s saint and social reformer, Sree Narayana Guru.
Shanghumugham Beach
A popular city beach lying near to the airport. An indoor recreation club, children's traffic training park and a star shaped restaurant are some of the facilities at the beach.
Vizhinjam
It is one of the ancient ports of Kerala. Vizhinjam is about 2 kms. south of Kovalam. A modern fishing harbour with a light house has been developed here. The Europeans, the Portuguese and the Dutch had commercially established here.
Alleppey Beach
Alleppey BeachIt has a long sandy beach. The beach here is spectacular. At one end are the dense palm groves that are so characteristic of Kerala’s landscape.
Kappad Beach
Kappad Beach 16 km away from Calicut, the historic beach where Vasco da Gama landed on 27th of May, 1498 with 170 men in three vessels - a site which witnessed an event that changed the course of Indian history. A pleasant, calm beach, locally known as Kappakadavu, is studded with rocks and caressed by friendly waves.
Bekal Beach
Bekal BeachFlanked on two sides by long, ravishingly beautiful palm fringed beaches, the Bekal. Fort stands proud on a promontory. The fort’s commanding position, with views across the bays to the north and the south are truly breath-taking.
Payyambalam Beach Resort

Payyambalam Beach ResortThe Payyambalam beach is one of the beautiful beaches in this State and is an ideal place to spend evenings, irrespective of seasons. It is very near Kannur town.

The mortal remains of Swadeshabhimani Ramakrishna Pilla, A K Gopalan, K P Gopalan and Pamban Madhavan are laid to rest near this resort.
