Nagpur city's Foundation was laid by The Gond King of
Deogad, "Bakht Buland Shah" in the year 1702. Nagpur is well known for its oranges. It is also called as the "Orange City"
The Nagpur District's Area is 9931 Sq. Mt.According to the 1991 census, the population of this region is 32,74,974. Nagpur District Consists of 14 Tahsil places and 1958 small villages.Nagpur was the capital of Central Provinces and Berar State till 1960. On 1st May 1960, it became the Second Capital of Maharashtra State and also known as orange city.

Adasa 27 kms. from Nagpur, a place wellknown for the Lord Ganesh temple. A fair is held in the month of Paush (Dec/Jan) every year.
Ambadevi Temple This temple is at Amravati. Legend has it that, Shrikrishna abducted Rukmini, when she came to pray at the Amba devi temple, and married her. The Godes Amba attracts devotees from all parts of Vidarbha.
Bor Sanctuary This sanctuary lies to the North of Wardha, in the Hingna range. A dam has been constructed on the river Bor. It has helped developed the forest around and a shelter for the wildlife comprising of prominently deer, cheetal, few bison's.
Chikhaldara This tourist center is situated on the Southern spurs of Gavilagarh hills, part of the Satpura ranges of the Amravati District. This hill resort of Vidarbha abounds in natural beauty. There are gigantic ranges of hills, valleys, lakes, water falls, flora and fauna. Also famous for the fort of Gond King.
Melghat This tourist center is on the side of Amravati Burhanpur (via Achalpur city) Road, This sanctuary is well known for the Project Tiger. At present there are about 120 tigers in the sanctuary.
Nagzira 140 kms. away from Nagpur (Near Sakoli), the sanctuary is the home of Tigers, panthers, bison's, barking deer, Nilgais which can be seen during the season from January to June.
Navegoan 140 kms. from Nagpur. This is one of most popular tourist spots in Vidarbha. It has beautiful lakes surrounded by lush green forest where migratory aquatic of more than 100 species can be seen during Oct. to Jan.
Ramtek The place has become a pilgrim center on account of its association with Lord Rama who is believed to have rested here for some time. According to legend, Shri Rama beguiled by the beautiful scenery, stayed here for sometime, hence the name Ramtek. On the top of the hill, there is a temple of Lord Laxman and Ram Sita.
Pavanar 63 kms. from Nagpur. The place is famous for the Ashram called Paramdham, build on the river Dham. It was founded by Acharya Vinoba Bhave a Sarvoday leader of the Bhudan movement.
Totaladoh A small village situated amidst the hill ranges, a branch of Satpura, with the river Pench flowing through the valley. A huge dam is constructed on the Pench river.
Kanhadevi The place is around 30 km from nagpur, the naturals surrounding like hills, lake, and forest have added to the beauty of the spot.
Ambhora 74 km from Nagpur is the place called Ambhora. The temple of Harihar Maharaj was constructed during Yadava Period. The three rivers-including Vainganga have from a long bank which can be called the mini Goa of Vidarbha.
Dhapewada Supposed to be pilgrim center of Vidarbha. This place is called as Pandharpur of Vidarbha.
Muktagiri Near Achalpur an ancient historical place. A grand temple complex having Jain deities installed with every pawn and rich show quite fit in the magnificent huge hill.
