Valluvar Kottam (Nungambakkam)

Built in 1976, the imposing memorial to the poet-saint Thiruvalluvar is a replica of the famed temple chariot of Tiruvaroor, and succeeds in evoking the beauty of the centuries-old masterpiece. The life size statue of the saint Thiruvalluvar is seated in 33m tall chariot. The lower portion of the chariot has bas-relief sculptures depicting the 133 chapters of the sacred "Thirukkural". The Valluvar Kottam auditorium seats 4000 and claims to have Asia's largest seating capacity. The Lovely, terraced roof garden has two large pools.

Guindy National Park

Possibly the world's only game reserve situated within city limits. This small National Park has a large population of spotted deer apart from blackbuck civet, cat, jackal, mangoose, monkeys, reptiles and some bird life. A unique snake park, reptilium and an amusement park for children have been developed near its main entrance

The snake park collection includes king Cobras, banded kraits, russel vipers and pythons. (Timings: 09.00 to 18.00 hrs. every day)

Ghandi Mandapam & Memorials To Rajaji And Kamaraj

Memorials to Mahatma Gandhi, C. Rajagopalachari, who was India's first Indian governor-general, and Kamaraj - a popular political leader, adjoin Raj Bhavan and integrate with Guindy Park. Each memorial is in a strikingly different architectural style.

Anna Samadhis

The beautiful evergreen garden memorial of the late Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai marks the beginning of the sun-kissed beach drive along the Marina. Mammoth, imitation elephant tusks adorn the entrance while flowers and plants grow in carefully-tended but cheerful profusion inside

M.G.R. Samadhis

Nearby is the Samadhi of M.G. Ramachandran, one of the most popular Cheif Ministers of this state.

Marina Beach

The wide road and an elegant promenade are both an intrinsic part of beautiful Marina - the Second longest beach in the world. The beach drive runs between magnificent stately buildings on one side and a wide sandy beach on the other. Particularly noteworthy are the buildings of the University of Madras, Chepauk Palace, Ice House and the Police Headquarters.

Elliot's Beach

Pleasant, safe for swimming. Ideal for lazy lounging and picnicking. A Stone memorial to a Danish Sailor who lost his life rescuing a drowning swimmer is a landmark.

Ribbon Building

Also known as the Ripon Building, this is the headquarters of the oldest city Corporation in India. The campus includes the Victoria Public Hall, the Corporation Stadium, and My Ladye's garden - a horticulturist's delight.

Anna Salai

Formerly known as Mount Road, this 16 km long starts at St. Thomas Mount in the outskirts and cuts across the heart of the city. It is a busy commercial centre and a glamorous shopping paradise.
