Daman
The long shore line at Devka has always been a source
of fascination. There is a popular amusement park on the beach, which is illuminated
on festive days. At Nani Daman, the Gandhi Park near Daman jetty, the Nani Daman
Fort and the church inside, and the fishing jetty where boats are anchored, are
worth paying a visit. At Moti Daman, the massive fort, the stately Light House,
gardens, historic monuments and ancient Gothic style churches, are the key places
of interest. The Jampore beach is a favourite with swimming enthusiasts.
In Diu
The Nagoa beach, one of the best beaches in India,
is in the Nagoa hamlet, in the village of Burcharwada, and can be reached from
Diu by a 20 minute drive. The sea, at this unique horse-shoe shaped beach, is
safe for swimming. The Fort of Diu is an expansive and imposing structure, situated
on the extreme coast of the island. The fort commands a magnificent view of the
sea, and its surrounding areas. Other places of interest are the Fortress of Panikotha,
St. Paul's Church, Jallandhar-Shrine beach, Gangeshvar Temple and Jama Masjid. |
