Clothing and Baggage

Recommended clothing and baggage for a trouble-free journey.

The suitcase is most useful for a single destination tour or a tour that begins and ends around one terminal. Instead, the back pack and all other variations of it, which have a lot of space, including several pockets, is the best form of baggage which is suited for travel in India. For one, they are easy to lug in the absence of help and are friendly to even those who have a weak constitution. Secondly, they are tougher despite the obvious disadvantage of them crushing up the clothes.

Make sure the baggage you carry has the provision for locking.

Cottons make the best wear. Light woollens are recommended for those heading to the hill destinations and frost beaters heading for the high altitude Himalayas. The following list will be helpful to plan a reasonably long trip:

- Two pair of cotton trousers
- A pair of shorts
- A few t-shirts and light cotton shirts
- A sweater for the hills
- A long skirt for women
- Some pairs of socks
- Swimming gear
- A light jacket
- A set of clothes for semi-formal evening wear.
